Luxembourg 2003, my first gold medal

During my season with Royal Ballet I got my first gold medal in Luxembourg. I worked with Messerer and Agadjanov on these variations and a good friend of mine Nadine Maclean choreographed the contemporary piece for me and I think it's the most work I'm proud of. I was very happy to be there as I was offered my first job in Luxembourg.

I was 18 years old when I did this competition, it was my last year at Bolshoi school. I won one of the first prizes and got an apprenticeship with Royal Ballet in London.

La Sylphide

Just a short note to say that I think the best La Sylphide for me is Eva Evdokimova, I was amazed how perfect she is for this role and how nobody could make it better after her. I also really liked Carla Fracci, she makes this role very different but also breathtaking.

Gala in Astana, Kazakhstan

On 4th of July I'm performing in the IV International Music Festival (Operalia 2008) in Astana, Kazakhstan where I'm dancing the pas de deux from Don Quixotte with Daniil Simkin (ABT) and the pas de deux from La Sylphide for the first time with Alexis Saramite (Paris Opera).

Cannes Vanity Fair Party at the Hotel du Cap Eden-Roc

I'm so tired today! I went to the Vanity Fair Party for the Cannes Film Festival at the beautiful Hotel du Cap last night and didn't get home until 5am thanks to an hour long queue for taxis in the rain after the party (with actor Edward Norton standing patiently in line behind me). I wasn't expecting to meet any other ballet dancers at the party, but I bumped into Roberto Bolle (Principal Dancer at La Scala in Milan) and Zhang Ziyi (actress from House of Flying Daggers who trained as a ballet dancer). At one point I was standing in the middle of a crowd surrounded by Mick Jagger, Steven Spielberg, Harrison Ford, George Lucas, Mischa Barton, Will Smith, Penelope Cruz, Cate Blanchett, Bono, Lily Allen, Sean Penn, Christian Slater and Natalie Portman!

I also had a chat with Larry Page (founder of Google and owner of Blogger and YouTube) who makes this website run and Jeff Skoll (one of the founders of eBay) who makes great films like 'An Inconvenient Truth'.

New Works Festival - Double Evil

I am dancing in Jorma Elo's ballet 'Double Evil' tomorrow night. This is my only performance of this in the festival so I'm really nervous and excited at the same time.

I am doing pas de deux from Don Quixote with Daniil Simkin at the Teatro Cervantes in Malaga . The performance will take place on May 14th.

New Works Festival - Fusion

I am dancing tomorrow 1st of May and on Sunday 4th of May in Yuri Possokhov's ballet 'Fusion'.

The Sleeping Beauty

I will be dancing Aurora in Sleeping Beauty on May 27th in Minsk
(Belarus). My partner will be someone from the company there. I've
done two guest performances with this company before: a year ago I did
my first Kitri in Don Quixote and two years ago I guested in Giselle.
I'm also very excited about dancing in the new renovated opera house.
